Babies love to put their hands on anything and everything including our jewelry. Not only do we have to worry about what they are picking up or touching, but we also constantly worry about what they are putting into their mouths.
As a mother to 5 children, I was always very careful about what types of jewelry I wore especially my necklaces. My little ones would always tug on them, sometimes breaking them, but mainly I worried about them putting them into their mouths and either hurting their little sensitive gums or breaking something off and chocking or swallowing it. Needless to say, I didn't wear much jewelry at all when my little ones were babies due to this.
Safety was my biggest concern, and their safety above all is of the utmost importance.
I recently had the opportunity to review some wonderful products from a company called Smart Mom Jewelry.
Teething Bling® is the original teething jewelry. It is the only product that has received European approval, undergoes quarterly safety testing in the US and abroad and includes breakaway clasps on all pendants.
We all know how much babies love to grab and chew. For that
reason, most moms don’t wear jewelry when their children are young. We are
changing that!
Teething Bling® is the original teething jewelry. Made from
the same FDA-approved material as most teething toys, our pendants and bangles
look great on the adult wearer but are safe for curious babies to handle and
chew.
Our products are non-toxic, phthalate, BPA, PVC, latex and
lead free and all pendants come with a breakaway clasp as an added safety measure.
I was sent 2 of the Teething Bling products for review purposes.
As you can clearly see, Teething Bling is not a little danty piece of jewelry, but a beautifully crafted teether that will hold up to even the most grabby babies.
What is it made of?
Teething Bling® is made from a commonly-used, medical-grade,
food-safe silicone. It's the same
material found in many teething toys and other baby products, such as the
'coated' infant spoons we all use.
What about the cord?
The cords are made from nylon and have also been safety
tested. Please make sure your clasp is
in good working order before using the pendant. We remind users: Teething
Bling® is ADULT jewelry and NOT not intended for children to wear.
What are the benefits of using silicone?
Silicone is very reliable and retains a far higher tensile
strength and tear resistance than most organic 'rubbers'. That makes it the perfect material for a
teething product. It's also odorless and
tasteless and will not cause staining.
Most importantly, silicone does not support the growth of fungus, mold
or bacteria. To clean, simply wash with
soap and water.
The colors are catchy and of course, will grab any childs attention, but they also stand out very nicely with any outfit. I love the fact that they come in quite a few different shapes and colors.
I was blown away when I received the Teething Bling in the mail. Not only were they very beautifully crafted pieces of jewelry, but completely safe for even the most curious of babies to grab onto and put into their mouths.
I was surprised at how soft and flexible the Teething Bling actually is. The feel like most teething rings that you would buy at the store. The fact that they are a beautiful accessory for any mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, or even baby sitter is a big plus.
If you are looking for a beautiful piece of jewelry for yourself or as a gift, you definitely can't go wrong with Teething Bling. These will be on the list for any expecting mother I know as a gift.
