Irish Whiskey Brownies

With toffee bits and a rich frosting spiked with Irish whiskey, these decadent brownies are great for St. Patrick's Day and beyond!

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a favorite Irish libation...Irish whiskey, of course! You don’t have to drink it though. You can add it to this incredibly rich and delicious brownie. Loaded with English toffee bits and a thick fudge-like frosting, you will wish that St. Patrick’s Day came more than once a year!

Ingredients

Brownies

2 boxes Betty Crocker® Original Supreme Premium brownie mix

½ cup water

½ cup vegetable oil

2 eggs

1 bag (8 oz) toffee bits

Frosting

¾ cup butter

½ cup unsweetened baking cocoa

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon vanilla

½ cup Irish (single-malt) whiskey

5 ½ cups powdered sugar

Start with two boxes of Betty Crocker® brownie mix, and prepare according to package directions.

Add a bag of English toffee bits.

Pour the batter into a greased 13x9 pan and bake for 45 to 55 minutes.

When the brownies come out of the oven, start on the frosting. In a saucepan, melt butter. Add salt, vanilla, Irish whiskey and cocoa. Whisk until smooth and combined.

Stir in the powdered sugar and cook for another 5 minutes.

Poke the warm brownies with a skewer and pour the hot frosting over the top.
Smooth the frosting with a spatula. Let the brownies stand for at least 2 hours before cutting into small squares.
