Glimpsing Grace in Ordinary Days Book Review

Glimpsing Grace in Ordinary Days
By: Christine Litavsky

“Using true life stories from the author's everyday life, Glimpsing Grace in Ordinary Days reminds us that God is always at work, even when it's hard to see His hand in our daily routines. It helps readers pull often-elusive glimmers of grace out of our chaotic world, examine them, and rest in the assurance that we are loved by God. Whether we're struggling with a divorce, remodeling a kitchen, or chaperoning a field trip, glimmers of grace are there, free for the taking, but we do need to reach out and grasp them. Glimpsing Grace in Ordinary Days helps us remember we can.”

In this day and age, we all lead very busy lives. With technology being so advanced, there doesn’t seem much reason for us to stop anymore.  It’s constant go, go, go. Why? Because we can stay connected with everyone and everything through our cell phones, laptops, iPads, etc… with the click of a button, we are instantly in touch with anyone.  Except God!

As I started reading Glimpsing Grace in Ordinary Days, I realized that I needed to slow down because life was passing me by. My children are getting older and growing up so fast and I don’t even know where all of the time went. We all say that we are blessed, but do we realize how truly blessed we are?

By taking the author’s advice, I slowed down and started to reflect on everything.  My life, my husband, my children, and all of my wonderful friends and family.  No matter how bad our day seems, we all have something to be grateful for.

The author used this quote at the beginning of Chapter 5 and it really it home. How many of us want more than we have right now? When will we stop wanting and be grateful and content with what we have?

“Be grateful for the home you have, knowing that at this moment, all you have is all you need.”  ~Sarah Ban Breathnach

I laughed and cried while reading Glimpsing Grace in Ordinary Days.  Her stories are not only very entertaining but beautifully described and you can feel the emotion in each one. I could relate in so many ways as the author is not only a Mother and animal lover, but she has a zest for life that you can just feel in her words. Her love for God and helping us to find His blessings in every aspect of our lives is amazing and truly shows in her work.

No matter what we are going through, God is always with us and continuously sending blessings our way, even when we are too caught up in our own busy lives to notice.
