Hugo the Happy Starfish: One Step at a Time Ebook Review

Being an avid reader myself, I am trying to instill that love of reading into each of my five children. Not only is reading an important part of life, but it opens up a whole new world in their imagination. The can explore all types of adventures, just by opening the pages of a book. I love the fact that they are all creative in their own way and I know that reading helps with that. 

I was recently given the opportunity to review a children's book called Hugo The Happy Starfish: One Step At a Time!

is a great tale to teach commitment.

Hugo is a little starfish with a big sense of adventure. One day he finds an empty candy wrapper with a picture of a huge chocolate mountain. Usually when Hugo finds trash in the ocean it upsets him but this time what he found made him curious. Hugo discovers that his chocolate mountain is in fact a real mountain, which is called the Matterhorn and is located in Switzerland. He decides to set off on a journey to find this mountain – a huge challenge for a little starfish! Hugo learns to take one step at a time and to enjoy the journey as much as the destination. Join Hugo as he finds the secret of perseverance when the road gets difficult.

ONE STEP AT A TIME is a story about the need for perspective, whatever mountains we face. This book is the perfect way to each kids to divide big challenges into little chunks and to take things one step at a time.

Having never read any of the Hugo the Happy Starfish books, I was excited to have the opportunity to review this children's book. From the very first page, Hugo the Happy Starfish grabs your attention and brings you right into the story with him. Following Hugo from the depths of the ocean floor to the top of The Matterhorn, is a huge adventure where Hugo the Happy Starfish has to travel a great distance and battle the cold and snow. He gets cold and tired, but yet, he never gives up, no matter how badly he wants to. He perseveres!!! Hugo the Happy Starfish takes it One Step At A Time!!!

This is a wonderful story with great illustrations that teach our children to seize the day. They learn all about feelings and emotions and it teaches them that no matter the size of the challenge, just take it one step at a time. Had Hugo the Happy Starfish given up, he would have never made it to the top of The Matterhorn and learned that great sense of pride in accomplishing his goals. He set his goal and no matter the challenges he faced, he didn't give up on his commitment to finish. 

I greatly enjoyed this children's book and so did my 5 children. They loved following along with Hugo the Happy Starfish on his amazing journey.

About the Author:

A native of Germany and former resident of the Dominican Republic, Mexico, the Islands of the Bahamas and Switzerland, Suzy Liebermann--now living in the USA--has travelled the world in pursuit of language, art, and culture.

Having found it, she now shares it with the world's teachers, parents, and children through educational literature. Leveraging her decades of global experience teaching in German, Spanish, French, and English with a degree in foreign language translation and a master's degree in business management and international business, she launched Happy Language Kids Publications in 2010 as an interactive language learning program for children and their young-at-heart elders.

This program is particularly aligned with the aims and values she upheld as a teacher of cultural art and foreign language at a prestigious International Baccalaureate World School.
