Zombie Rot Fudge

One of my most favorite holidays is Halloween. I love decorating, helping the kids with costumes, getting ready for trick or treaters and of course, baking all kinds of goodies. I love making pies, cookies, fudges and other delicious desserts.

This recipe came about last year when I was making some fudge and wanted to change it up for Halloween. My family are Zombie fanatics, so I decided to design a fudge around the whole Zombie theme.

Zombie Rot Fudge!!!

Ingredients:

2 Tablespoons Butter
1 5oz. Can of Carnation Evaporated Milk
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
1/8 Teaspoon Salt
12oz Bag of White Chocolate Chips
2 Cups Mini Marshmallows
Green Food Coloring
Walnuts or Pecans

Grease an 8" Square pan (non stick spray works well), set aside.

In a pot, combine the butter, evaporated milk, sugar and salt.

Bring to a rolling boil over medium hear, stirring constantly. Boil for 5 minutes and continue stirring constantly.

Stir in white chocolate chips and marshmallows. Continue stirring until chocolate and marshmallows are completely melted.

Mix in green food coloring until you reached desired color.

Pour into prepared pan and arrange pecans or walnuts on top.

Splatter with red food coloring to make blood splatter effect. This works well with a small paintbrush.

Cool for 2 hours and then cut into 2" squares.

Enjoy!!

Halloween Safety Tips

Everyone loves a good scare on Halloween, but not when it comes to child safety. There are several easy and effective behaviors that parents can share with kids to help reduce their risk of injury.

Popular trick-or-treating hours are 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. so be especially alert for kids during those hours.

Hard Facts

On average, children are more than twice as likely to be hit by a car and killed on Halloween than on any other day of the year.

Top Tips

When selecting a costume make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls.

Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors. Since masks can sometimes obstruct a child’s vision, try non-toxic face paint and makeup whenever possible.

Have kids use glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers.

Children under the age of 12 should not be alone at night without adult supervision. If kids are mature enough to be out without supervision, they should stick to familiar areas that are well lit and trick-or-treat in groups.

Check treats for signs of tampering before children are allowed to eat them.

Remind children to eat only treats in their original, unopened wrappers.

Candy should be thrown away if the wrapper is faded or torn, or if the candy is unwrapped.

Drive Extra Safely on Halloween

Slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods. Children are excited on Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways.

Take extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians and on curbs.

Enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully.

Eliminate any distractions inside your car so you can concentrate on the road and your surroundings.

Drive slowly, anticipate heavy pedestrian traffic and turn your headlights on earlier in the day to spot children from greater distances.

Cemetery Slime Punch Recipe

Try this nonalcoholic punch at your next Halloween bash. Since little ghouls and goblins will likely be pumped up on sugar from trick-or-treat bags, this punch made from diet root beer and frozen yogurt won't add to the impact.

Ingredients:
2 liters diet root beer

24 gummy worms, plus more if desired

1 pint low-fat vanilla frozen yogurt

1 pint low-fat chocolate frozen yogurt

Preparation:
Arrange the gummy worms in a 12-compartment ice tray, letting them hang out over the edges of the tray.

Fill with root beer and freeze at least four hours or overnight.

With a small ice cream scoop, fill the bottom of a one-gallon punch bowl with scoops of both frozen yogurts, using the full container of each. Very slowly fill the punch bowl with root beer, which will foam up to create the "slime."

Float the wormy ice cubes on top of the punch. Fill each punch cup with a scoop of ice cream and an ice cube. Float additional worms on top of the punch or in each glass.

Bring the Dead to your Game Night with Zombie-Opoly!

We are finally getting close to the time of year that I love most; Halloween. Everything around this time of year revolves around making people scream out of fear. Ghouls, goblins, and vampires just don’t do the trick anymore; today it’s all about devising the craziest, goriest costume ever.

Each year, my wife and I have researched different ways to make ourselves stand out more and have even gotten involved in doing our own special effects make-up. But, what about when the days leading up to Halloween? Sure, you have to get your home decked out with the webs and the animated zombies that leap out of their graves in search of blood. There are still times when you are at a standstill and these times call for playing games with the kids.

It is no secret that I am an avid lover of Monopoly. I must warn you, I am extremely competitive, and so when I lose out on “Park Place” or “Boardwalk”, I get a little upset. Well, I found a great spin on Monopoly that helps bring in the Halloween spirit; it’s called “Zombie-Opoly”. The general consensus is that it still harbors the same rules as regular classic Monopoly, but it puts a zombie themed snap to it.

The "REAL" way the game of Monopoly ends!!

Instead of passing “Go”, you shuffle past the starting point, but don’t worry; you still get to collect your $200. However, in this brain seeking game, you no longer have the opportunity to “Go to Jail”, now you are “Buried” scraping for air, hoping to see the light of day as your crypt becomes your new home. Following the rules of classic Monopoly, the individual that has found him/herself “Buried” has three chances to roll doubles and if they do not get their doubles, they have to pay the overrun infested blood suckers in the “blood bank”…not too much difference than what actually goes on in normalized society.

Instead of trying to gain the Railroads from yesteryear, in Zombie-Opoly you are trying to collect the four different spaces which are labeled: “VooDoo”, “Virus Outbreak”, “Pandemic”, and “Mad Science”. And if we all remember “Park Place” and “Boardwalk”, they no longer exist in the Zombie Apocalypse. Now, players will compete to get “The Horde” and “Dr. Aikenhead” (Aching Head).

As you round the board, there are numerous creatively designed spaces and instead of drawing “Chance” cards, you now have to draw “Stagger” and “Crawl” cards. One other change is the iconic pieces that designate who you are on the board. No longer is there a race car or an old shoe; now you are defined by a Hammer, Shovel, Femur Bone, Rotting Ear, Sneaker, and the one item that everyone will be fighting for, the Zombie Boy. Instead of developing homes in the properties that a player owns, now they are lucky enough to place boxes of flesh and screaming humans on their owned areas.

The concept of that game is still the same, but with Zombie-Opoly, players can now embrace their psychopathic and schizophrenic sides without being judged. To make this game more fun, hook up a few strobes lights and a fog machine and set the environment. Nothing will get you in the holiday spirit faster than conjuring up those that are prevalent to walk the Earth on the Day of the Dead.

Gotta Love a product "Made in the USA"

Cabbage and Sausage Recipe with Ozeri Green Earth Pan Review #holidygiftguide

**This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links

I have always loved to cook! As a matter of fact, My love of cooking started when was 3 years old and my Papa put a chair next to him in front of the gas stove and let me experience the joy of learning how to cook breakfast in a cast iron skillet.

I fell in love with cooking and have spent 30 years collecting recipes, experimenting and perfecting meals for my family and friends. One of the main things I must have to cook is a set of good pots and pans.

I recently had the chance to work with Ozeri for a review of the Green Earth Pan by Ozeri. For my review, I had the opportunity to try out the 12" pan since we have such a large family.

I fell in love with the Green Earth Pan by Ozeri as soon as it arrived. It's HUGE!!! Which is a must in my household. With a family of 7, no meals are ever small.

The Green Earth Pan is not an overly heavy pan, but it does have a nice weight to it.

I love the GREBLON coating that the Green Earth Pan is made with. It's a very nice ceramic coating from Germany which is 100% PTFE and PFOA Free and is designed to prevent food from sticking. I was surprised when I opened my package and it came with a pan protector too! This makes it so much easier to store and not worry about my pans cooking surface receiving any damage.

Each pan has a magnetized for rapid heat transfers and a heat resistant silicone handle.

Green Earth Pan by Ozeri Features:

Unlike other ceramic pans, the Ozeri Green Earth Pan utilizes GREBLON - an ultra-safe ceramic coating from Germany which is 100% PTFE and PFOA free.

Innovative textured pan surface delivers enhanced heat distribution and superior n
on-stick performance without ever releasing harmful fumes or toxins.

Features a scratch-resistant 100 percent ceramic coating that is super easy to clean.

Made out of durable heavy-gauge die-cast aluminum with no heavy metals or harmful chemicals.

Each pan boasts a comfortable heat resistant silicon coated handle and a magnetized induction stove safe base for rapid heat transfer.

My Thoughts:

I am so happy to have had the opportunity to review the best frying pan that I have ever used. I am in love with this pan and use it all the time now. My absolute favorite feature is the textured ceramic coating that makes cooking and cleaning a breeze. The fact that it is non-stick means I can cook anything with no issues at all, which is definitely not the case with my other pans.

I usually have to use a non-stick spray or oil when cooking any kind of eggs in my other pans, but with the Green Earth Pan, I didn't need to use anything. Scrambled and fried eggs cooked up so easy with no mess to clean. I was able to just wipe my pan out with a clean dish towel and it was good to go. You would never have known I just cooked eggs in it.

For my review, I decided to cook up something that my husband loves and I am showing you the step by step direction to make this meal in the Green Earth Pan by Ozeri.

Cabbage and Sausage

Ingredients:

1 stick of Butter
(or margarine, but I only use real butter)

1 package of Cole Slaw mix
(you can just shred a head of cabbage, but I wanted quick and easy)

1 Onion, diced

1 lb. Smoked Sausage, sliced into round pieces

1 15oz can Diced Tomatoes

1/2 teaspoon Salt

1/2 teaspoon Pepper

Directions:

Melt butter in pan, add onions. Cook for about 5 minutes.

Add Cole Slaw Mix and continue cooking for another 5 minutes.

Add Diced Tomatoes and mix up good.

Add Sausage, Salt and Pepper. Mix, cover and let simmer for 20-25 minutes.

Doesn't it look delicious???

Dinner is served!!! Mmmm Mmmm Good!

OvenArt Bakeware Silicone Muffin Pan Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

As you all know by now, I love to bake!!! I have quite the collection of baking pans, cookie sheets, muffin pans, etc...but I have never owned or used a silicone pan before. I was recently given the opportunity to work with this amazing company OvenArt Bakeware to review their OvenArt Bakeware Silicone Muffin Pan

I was very hesitant at first because I am so used to my pans and I know what works and doesn't work for my recipes. The thing about any kind of bakeware is you never know what is going to cause you food to stick or not stick no matter how well greased or sprayed your pans are. So I decided for my first time using the OvenArt Bakeware Silicone Muffin Pan that I would put my families 100 year old cornbread recipe to the test.

Here we go! I have washed and dried the pan before the first use just to get it prepared and then did a very light coating of non stick cooking spray just to be on the safe side as cornbread can be very finicky.

30 minutes later and we have gorgeous, freshly baked cornbread muffins. My whole family is dying to get their hands on these, so now comes the test of if they will stick or not.

Oh my goodness!!! These muffins popped right on out of the OvenArt Bakeware Silicone Muffin Pan with no issues whatsoever. I have never been this lucky before as I always have at least one or two stick somewhere, but not with this pan. I could pop them out one by one or just flip it over and pop them all out at once.

Aren't they beautiful?

I have to say after only using this pan once, I am in love. The OvenArt Bakeware Silicone Muffin pan has officially replaced all of my current muffin pans from now on. Not only is it a breeze to use with no sticking issues at all, but clean up is a cinch. I can easily wash it in hot, soapy water or throw it in the dishwasher. I can't wait to test out other recipes in my new pan. Chocolate Chip Muffins, Blueberry Cheesecake Muffins, Cupcakes, Taco Cups, Breakfast Muffins, etc...the possibilities are endless.

This much loved silicone muffin pan with an expensive grade of pure 100%, high quality European silicone.  Food will slide out effortlessly and bake perfectly every time using your safe, BPA-free, filler-free, and worry-free silicone bakeware. Safe for the oven, freezer, microwave, and dishwasher.  This high quality muffin pan is protected by the OvenArt "Better Muffin" Guarantee for lifetime assurance against defects and performance issues.

If you love to bake, I highly recommend that you invest in one or more of these pans, you won't regret it! This would make a wonderful #MothersDay gift for all of the Mom's and Grandmother's that love to cook in your life and at only $12.99 on Amazon, you can't beat that.
